Norman Koren - photographs and tutorials

Calendar art. The John Mellencamp of photography.

What I don't like is the hyper-colorization combined with cliche subject matter— while I can appreciate the technical skill, the images leave me bored.

Not to overburden this comment with totalsnark, but what is it that interests you about the images?

Klang coolguy, STFU

Nice post, some great discussion on tech in the tute section. Overall, very gentle, informative, and with some moderate eye candy from an old school. In other words, sweet.

I've already bookmarked the site and plan on working through some of the tutorials. The zone system as applied to color/digital photography looks especially interesting. Thanks, Gyan for the link!

Klang's remark bears simiaritlies to brautigan's comment on the refocusing camera thread -- *shrug* (do you guys even take pictures?)

I personally read photo.net tutorials before when I picked up photography. But there have been a bunch of online resources that I read in times of doubt. Norman's been one of them.

I have been a big fan of his tutorials for a while; they may be a bit techincal for some people, though. His site was mentioned in this thread on photography resources, but I am glad you thought it worthy of its own post.

NewBorn: Yeah, I do. And I'm the son of a fine art photography professor. And you'll notice that I was arguing against Brautigan in that thread.
