More rules, and you'll like it!

Rules? We don't need no rules.

I've been eating a bowl of fruit daily. It consists of blueberries, papaya slices, banana slices, and raspberries. Some of the ingredients are pricy but its tasty.

A healthy mind is nearly always synonymous with a healthy body. This stuff should be obvious, but surprisingly isn't to many people (the hollywood image of a cheesy-crunching computer genious comes to mind).

These are my sort of dietary guidelines! I've been waiting all my life for the health report that tells me that my diet is lacking in oysters, cheddar cheese, smoked salmon and pasta.

For me, a "Mentally Healthy Recipe" doesn't involve making a marinade, chopping about eleven different things, and pre-cooking three different things, as required for the Grilled Tuna Nicoise featured on the site.

I am so sick of this food puritanism. I think the preoccupation with optimal physical and mental health is the new religion. Put me down in the sinner list.

I can't wait for mental health researchers to get to the logical conclusion of listing healthy thoughts for us to think.

Wonderful, srbolsvert.
Can you suggest a few of those healthy thoughts? And where might we find them?

There’s plenty of good sense in their arguments, and the recipes look pretty good. The overall recommendations aren’t strongly distinguishable from what one might expect from general healthy-eating advice, though, so I wonder if this campaign’s specific message might be in danger of getting lost in the ether. I suppose it would be unreasonable to expect negative recommendations like CAKES WILL DRIVE YOU INSANE! or MCDONALDS WILL ROT UR BRAIN AND MAKE U FAT! Lastly, I am worried that there is no mention of bacon anywhere on the site, when I feel sure that it is one of the most important sanity-promoting foods in existence.

My feeling on food has always remained the same -- eat a balanced diet with a decent amount of fruits and vegetables. But above all make sure that you enjoy what you're eating, otherwise you won't derive the same benefit out of it.

Oh, and chew chew chew

...and according to the site I probably need to get more zinc, Omega 3's, and B vitamins.

As a hypochondriac, this web site is going to make me fat.

Being healthy is all common sense. Eat a balanced diet in moderation, do a bit of exercise every day. There's no secret at all; it's just a matter of actually doing what you already know is right.

Same goes for moral philosophy, FWIW. For all the hot air and contemplation about how to live right, actually going out there and being a good person is remarkably simple. But only if you can get it together enough to actually do it.

Well, I guess we have the solution for solving the hooligan problem here, give them some leafy green vegetables to reduce anxiety, some vitamin B6, magnesium and selenium to reduce irritability and some vitamin B1, B12 and zinc to optimize their concentration so they can keep focused on the match...... maybe we should put the stuff in pills and introduce them during the World Cup in Germany this year????

There's quite a lot of information linking various conditions and nutrient deficiencies. Want to pooh pooh such studies? Then maybe you aren't on any meds.

Those on meds owe it to themselves to bone up on all the resources they can get their hands on. Genetic dispositions included.

Imagine this list of disorders from Safe Harbor's International Guide to the World of Alternative Mental Health, Commentary on Nutritional Treatment of Mental Disorders.

Surely there's some cred to it all.

Take Margot Kidder's daily doses of nutrient therapy.

Anyone taking scripts and bold enough to try a natural method, no doubt under professional supervision, deserves kudos.

Patient, heal thyself, indeed.

daily doses should have been a link....

Clearly scientists are conspiring with big Pharma and big Agro/Food to keep these true cures out of people's hands.

It also helps if all the desired ingredients in the daily doses are stored near crystals and under pyramids to magnify their mental health aiding potency by realigning and harmonizing the quantum properties of their molecular structure. It is also best if you buy them from a native american indian.

Once you take this medication you too will be able to jump the couch and impregnate teen drama stars.

srbiosvert, if you ate more green leafy vegetables, you would probably be less cynical.

Orthorexia, anyone?

I say keep it simple. Eat healthy and exercise. Have you ever seen an active person who walked or rode a bike for an hour a day that didn't gorge themselves, complain about gaining weight! Don't eat and then fall asleep in the lazy boy. Forget chemicals! get a life-

soyjoy meat may arguably cause diseases of affluence but veggie diets definately cause me diseases of effluence.
