Nice, I like people who live steampunk.

Really, really neat car, but...

Carthedral was designed and built by,
- Rebecca Caldwell (the one and only:)

She's creative with punctuation, too!

Anyways, I want one. Thanks for the link.

You mean Gothy it is a cathedral (gothic architecture). Barbarians.

I saw this a few years ago at an art car rally in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood. It's quite amazing.

Wonder how she gets the thing serviced. It won't fit in the bay door.

She's so Goth, she married someone named David Hellborn.

Won't Goth ever die?

I'll bet she consumes more gas than any SUV-driving soccer mom.

There's this place I camp that is home to a lot of buses, vans, RVs, campers etc, a lot of which have basically become permanent fixtures. Someone there has an old school bus which has a VW hippy bus welded/attached on top. All of it painted purple. I expected it also to be permanently where it was, and I always saw it in the same spot, but one time driving up there I saw the damn thing on the highway.

Yes, but there's ONLY ONE OF THEM. And somehow I doubt it's her daily means of transportation.

Someone doing a kick-ass project that involves a lot of gasoline is a little different than millions of people buying SUVs.

It's not, according to her FAQ. She drives a '62 Dodge Lancer.

What if I consider my un-modified SUV to be a "kick-ass project"? Will I be excused from the typical MeFi scorn for SUVs?

well this should cheer you up for sure: see, I got your old ID and you're all dressed up like the Cure

In exactly what sense is it a project? I mean, the least you could do is airbrush a naked Valkyrie on the side or something.

Tell you what, though, you're totally onto something with this whole "judge all artistic expression by its ecological footprint" concept. At long last, incontrovertible proof that my tuneless harmonica-playing kicks Orson Welles's ass! Citizen Kane? More like Citizen Can't-Justify-All-That-C02!

But wait, then it will no longer be an un-modified SUV. Jeepers, my head is spinning!
