A proud sponsor of Jesus Christ.

All the markings of a parody, but if it's not, I'm totally getting an Exodus 20 basketball jersey! It's been my favorite book ever since I saw it play against Job 17 in the McDonald's All American game.

my thrift-store-digging, hipster-irony sense is tingling.

I actually saw someone wearing one of those in Times Square last week. I totally put it out of my mind until now.

I'm holding out for Ephesians 3:14, because I love to go to weddings.

If your a fan of Genesis the band, you got yourself some sweet new threads.

I predict 6 hours until someone in Williamsburg, Brooklyn busts into their hip, corner bar donning one. "Behold the Irony! PBRs for everyone!"

Hmm:

-on one of the models' shirts, her angle to the camera cuts off "Genesis" such that it reads "Genes".
-Christians are potentially referred to as "throwbacks" in the domain name

I smell a parody, too, yes I do.

How crass. At least the loud shirts make it easy to identify who to avoid contact with.

You stay out of this, SweetJesus. No need to hype up your sponsors. See also

"Behold the Irony! PBRs for everyone!"

You buyin'? I'll take a double shot of irony.

ahh, so the correct parsing is "christian (throwback jersey)", not "(christian throwback) jersey"

(assuming it's real for the moment)

Funny how things like this never seem to feature Matthew 25, or that pesky bit about rich people and camels...

Let's go, Je-sus!

Is the Book of Onan available?

It looks totally real, and also like possible trade infringement.

I would expect at least a C&D attempt by the NFL or MLB. It's not *that* much of a stretch to say that the jerseys are confusable with their major-league counterparts.

do they have one for Matthew 21:12? I don't see it.
let's see...no Isaiah 1:7 either.
sham.

Hey Joe Lisboa, If you where a Jesus Jersey in the bar, I guarantee you won't need me to buy you drinks...

of course, I meant "wear" not "where" in above comment... Lord help me.

Indeed. You can go to Christian Swag and count the potential violations. I don't know enough about parody and fair use, though, to say authoritatively whether this is actually infringement, but as a former Christian who attended one of those trendy mega-churches, I know the sort of thing featured on the FPP is totally par for the course, although in some cases it seems to so trivialize faith that one almost wishes it were parody. I mean, come on, Abreadcrumb & Fish?

I'm REALLY wanting Deuteronomy 21 (concerning dealing with rebellious sons, for all you heathens out there):

21 Then all the men of his town shall stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.

I can just see dropping off the kids at school/daycare wearing this, heh heh heh.

CRM 114 -- my Greek/Roman/Byzantine History prof in college told us about a particularly smart evangelical Christian professor he had studied under in college. Our prof, a delightful agnostic himself, wrote a paper for a course in Roman history on the important role of the lion in the early development of Christianity.

And, as the telling of the story goes, he took his F like a man, and went home and cried about it.

Damn, that girl with the "genes" shirt on the front page is hot as hell! And Sweetjesus, that shirt is pretty buyable.

Yeah, that Luke 8 girl is a fox too!

The folks who founded this company live about six miles away from me. There was an article about them in the local paper not too long ago (Local entrepreneur makes good, that sort of thing), and they recently dined at the restaurant for which I tend bar. Evidently 10% is good enough for everyone, not just Jeebus.

The little girl is as charming in person as she is in the picture, though. I want her to give lessons to all the other children on how to act in restaurants...

Smedleyman, if you ever had the misfortune of being at a Harvest Crusade or a Promise Keepers rally, you might have been lucky enough to hear the "We love Jesus, yes we do" variant. Yeah, still gives me the creeps ...
