That was pretty cool, and reminded me of the Xiao Xiao "stick death" series, which I'm now watching through again (the mirror site on the Wikipedia article seems to be faster).

Very nice. It's a modern day version (others will say rip off) of Osvaldo Cavandoli's La Linea, an animated series from the 70s.
In fact, when I saw the title of this post, I thought the post would be about La Linea, since that's exactly what the concept of every episode of Cavandoli's animated series was: the animator's relationship with its creature.
There are some nice examples of this timeless animation series on youtube:

Den Beste, you're thinking of xiao xiao, which is linked in Orange Goblin's comment above. And thanks for the YouTube links to La Linea, keepoutofreach, had been curious about that cartoon (those cartoons) for a while.

About five seconds into the thing (which I enjoyed a lot). Great idea to use the lasso, the eraser, and other icons we all work with so much (yet never quite in that manner).

I love the concept, very well done.
(Though it pains me every time I see a screenshot reproduced as a JPEG because the compression artifacts are so annoying. GIFs are no better, as they typically have to be dithered if there are more than 256 colors. I just don't understand what it takes to convince people to use PNG for screenshots, but I suppose in this case it might have to do with Flash support.)
