An abridged version, but still pretty cool.

Great concept, though I'm not blown away by the execution. Here's my question -- I've seen plenty of these videos from WoW and other online games, or Machinima films, etc, but is there any live performance that goes on within the games themselves? Has anyone ever tried mounting a play within one of those universes? That would be cool I think.

Pretty kewl, but I have the same comment the linked' comment does -- why mix in audio with lyrics if you're going to be talking? I couldn't make out half of it. The direction was pretty good, using Undercity and Dire Maul and all...

(er, those are WoW locations.. sorry)

I bet the teacher was amused.

I couldn't watch it long enough with those lyrics going on in the background... OK for a student project, but not yet worthy of a single-link FPP (though if they took the music out, I'd buy in)

jrb: A long time ago, a group of players performed a play "live" on Ultima Online. Does that count?

absalom: that's exactly what I'm looking for. Do you know the play, or of any documentation of this event?

Even without the music (which was awful), the reading reminded me of high school English class -- reciting words off the page in a flat monotone, no breaks, no inflection. Now I remember why I thought Shakespeare was so dull back then.

I realize it's just a student project, but seriously, how can you go through all the effort of dressing something up, and give the thing itself such shoddy execution?

The bunny-killing intro was good, though.

I'm going to have to agree on the great idea -- poor execution.

I couldn't watch more than a couple of bars into "Bad Moon Rising". I hate poorly read Shakespeare, and obscuring it with CCR didn't do it any favors ...

mattbucher, Totally loved that. Fun.

jrb223, Didn't know about Machinima. Thanks.

jbr223, there are actually a number of theater groups in the game Second Life. Search the forums or the in-game event listing for upcoming performances.

jrb223: I read about it in a book while working on my thesis. I am reasonably sure it is Dungeons and Dreamers, which talks about UO in some detail, including the in-game play I mentioned above. It was actually the most interesting part of the book.

Awesome, thanks for the tips everyone, I'm totally going to pick up that book. And, Nickyskye, you're welcome!
