even though it is flagged, I just want to point out rocket != jet an annoyance of mine

Additionally, the pictures seem to show that the air intake for the jet engine is inside the cabin. That seems like a bad idea.

A fine point; one that the Air Force seems to have had dome difficulty with:
the XB-47 had 18 small rocket units in the fuselage for jet-assisted takeoff (JATO)

some difficulty, even.

I was REALLY hoping it was an animal beetle not a car beetle.

I was also disappointed that it had wheels instead of legs.

I thought you were talking about a bombardier beetle.

I saw this on DC or TLC awhile ago- it's mostly 'oo, look a big engine in a tiny car.' Not very practical.

The difference between rocket and jet engines. Apparently, the main thing is that a rocket engine carries its own supply of oxygen.

Zerokey: yeah, me too.

Now that's rocket power! Okay not really, but very close.

As far as the JATO/RATO thing goes, maybe it just has to do with JATO being more fun to say than RATO.

More rocket confusion. Same plane. Note, however, that my previous "JATO" link was to a Boeing site.

And look - there's a tiny mouse with a cape pushing on one of the wings! Maybe it's Photoshopped, though.
