They rode on Mothra's back. They were The Peanuts. They were a band. The released albums. They have been digitized (and digitized some more). They summoned monsters (video link) with monster theme songs. But what happened to them?

Nice post. Anyone who doesn't have any Peanuts should download both albums immediately.

Best/worst Engrish site name: Nippop.
I thought it was a pretty clever play on words.

Holy cow -- I had no idea that the Mothra girls were anything other than Mothra girls! This is pretty neat.

...a pretty clever play on words.

Combining "Nippon" and "Pop" is clever, but the result also sounds like this.

A young and beautiful Shiina Ringo mentions "The Peanuts" here [youtube link]... Q&D translate:

Q: You seem to like foreign music a lot, don't you sing, -er- listen to Japanese music?

A: I don't know much about current music, but I like older music; (( cute 'eh-to...' interlude )) like Keiko Maruyama, ...

Q: That's very old huh?

A: ah, really ... and, like The Peanuts ...

Q2: VERY old, huh!
