the daily show on foley. Pretty funny. Also funny is this old mad TV sketch which seems pretty relevant.

There was at least one other Foley story deleted as a dupe, as the other thread is still open.

Oh, some good political commentary on Hotline TV

Plus this isn't the only major story out there now, as Josh Marshall notes
Is it me or is all hell breaking loose in this country's politics? We're in the last month of an election cycle and there are maybe four or five stories, each of which could totally dominate the national political news on their own. And each is flaming out of control at once. You've got the Foley debacle. The revelations in the Woodward book. The NIE revelations that almost seem like old news now. A major part of the pre-9/11 story that somehow never saw the light of day and may bring down Condi Rice. And did I mention the election?

OK, the post isn't well written, but it drew my attention to something outstandingly awful. Drudge blaming the kids when an abusive relationship arises? That's gotta be a new low.

Note to hard rain: do check your spelling next time. Note to mr_roboto: the typos aren't the really vile thing here. That'd be the defence offered by Republicans of the paedophile in their midst.

And the good thing is we've got 2 more years of this entertainment. Good thing my Costco membership's paid up so I can get the jiffy pop by the case.

Now I read that senior moments may be evidence of brain damage. I give up.

Wow, the way lawmakers are showing out for this, maybe Roman Polanski will finally get that pardon.

hard rain, might I suggest that you venture out into some other interesting parts of the internet beyond The Huffington Post and The Guardian.

Find something that meets the criteria of "cool" and make a front page post. It's my opinion that a link to a blog roundup blog post is not one of those links that would be described as "cool".

*This is as close to constructive as I can get*

Imbedded and embedded are both acceptable spellings. Although, embedded is more common.

You're not going to tell me these are innocent babies. Have you read the transcripts that ABC posted going into the weekend of these instant messages, back and forth? The kids are egging the Congressman on! The kids are trying to get this out of him. We haven't got the whole story on this.

Blaming the victim.

In the context of rape, this concept refers to popular attitudes that certain victim behaviours (such as flirting, or wearing sexually-provocative clothing) may encourage rape. In extreme cases, victims are said to have "asked for it", simply by not behaving demurely. In most Western countries though, the defense of provocation is not accepted as a mitigation for rape.

Under cases of alleged date rape, however, the situation is different. Because the question at hand is whether or not the incident was consensual, or whether the alleged victim encouraged the accused or gave implied consent, becomes the critical consideration. As such, arguments about the victim's conduct are an accepted element of an affirmative defense.

Drudge:

The mind just boggles that someone could get up and say things like that seriously. A fifty-two year old six-term congressman is powerless to stop the advances of sixteen year old boys? I know that there is a long standing tradition in the republican party of blaming the victim but this is just beyond the pale. Do they really think that people will buy this?
