Sorry to say I signed up, and discovered that they are basically overloaded and unplayable. Maybe they will fix it, but meanwhile. :(

So, in other words, it's exactly like the real Congress? Sweeeet!

Okay, I persisted, and it does work. You just have to refresh every time you do anything. It just took me four refreshes to get Jim McDermott on my team.

Wow, drafting this team is harder than I'd expect-- you're inclined to go for the names you recognize, but they might be familiar just 'cause they've been indicted recently.

Going with all white male Republicans. Well, and Donna Christiansen. Former USVI residents, represent!

Thanks for this link, this is the greatest.

Once I was drinking. And I came up with this idea too.

I don't care about legislation, I want a legislator who isn't afraid to beat a prostitute to death with his gavel.

Is there an action figure of the priest who molested Foley? Maybe they make them in Mexico...

So, who is starting the official MetaFilter league?

After the Democrats take over, there will be a hardcore group of republican nutballs who will start introducing everything from constitutional amendments banning long hair for men, to resolutions thanking Jesus for making sure that the bathrooms in the Capitol stay clean. I want those guys on my team.

Can you use historic rosters? I got dibbs on Newt! The man was vile, but pretty effective.

I saw him speak about a year or so ago at a healthcare conference and the man is INFINITELY more sane and well reasoned than when he was in office. In fact, I found myself agreeing with several of his points, not all but several, whereas when he was a congress critter we had no common ground that I can recall.

Which goes to further bolster what I always suspected... that the legislative process is mostly theater.

Is there some easily searchable database containing congress members' educational backgrounds?

How about an unofficial league? Password metameta.

Something like this, Ynoxas?

moonpie: Kinda. I was hoping for something you could search by education... I know the conventional wisdom is that they are all lawyers, but seeing what each person's major for their BS/BA could be interesting/amusing if not particularly valuable.

Using your link, I knew Newty had a PhD but it doesn't say what the disciplines were.

Is there a Fantasy Impeachment for High Crimes and Misdemeanors website?

If there isn't, there should be. There'd be hundreds of eminently eligible congressfolks to draft.

What do you mean, "After the Democrats take over"? That group of nutballs to which you refer is operating at full speed right now and has been for years. Democrats are completely irrelevant to them.

Anyone else having trouble getting the site to remember your team?
