Who volunteers to build a real-life version?

Neat visuals (I'll avoid comment on the music :). I like them better the more abstract they are, and kinda wish they used more oddball organic shapes instead of relatively recognizable instruments. But it's interesting, thanks.

Anyone who likes this kind of stuff might also like Andy Murdock's Lots of Robots, which uses a somewhat similar style but tells a more complex ongoing story. You can watch the first 14 minutes of his projected full-length feature here.

What the hell, here's a couple more recent (and creepy and fascinating) animations I stumbled onto a few nights ago: Fallen Art and Cathedral, which was nominated for an Oscar a few years back. They're by Polish animator Tomek Baginski, are each ~6.5 minutes long, and tell neat stories along with the otherworldly visuals. Thanks again, disclaimer, for making the post; I've been on a major animation kick lately and it's always great to see something I haven't seen before.

(Repeat, but the Polish shorts redeem it)

Also, from the older thread, you can download the real time version and move the camera as you please from here.

Oh please, I built one of those last summer in my furnace room. All it took was seven old xlyphones and two modifed drum kits and some banjo strings and tiny bongo drums and a gutted piano and an old conveyor belt some little marbles and air-powered ball-shooters, five cameras, some engineering tricks and some hydraulics, and a whole lot of PVC piping, and then you had to pay real close attention for when to shoot all the balls, but really, as long as you have a sense of rhythm, it's not as hard as it seems.

sadly, animusic2 isn't as "thrilling" as animusic. i'm still holding out for a third one. i bought my boyfriend the dvds, so we wouldn't have to spend so much time watching it at fry's.

the dvd has "director's commentary" where the guy who makes it talks about the sounds for each instrument. it's not as interesting as it can be. it seems he dreams it up, there's no logic behind any of it.

Single link posts without elaborate supporting linkage are so...meh.

And it's obvious they ganked the physics engine, so it's nowhere near possible.

(Just kidding. Very cool. Thanks!)
