I'd like to like it, but the format is completely impenetrable and has the actual links are buried deep within the secondary pages. At the very least it needs a page listing new links and a corresponding RSS feed.

Now, to be fair, this is a perfect tool for otherwise unhip parents to bring up some engaging topics of conversation when they call their adolescent offspring to the dinner table on Friday Family Nights. And lose even more credibility in the process.

Personally, I wish Gabe Rivera would extend his Techmeme and Memeorandum tool to more topics, even one for general news.

Hmm - it's like we need a place where people can contribute the links they think are interesting and noteworthy, and the community as a whole can function as a "filter" or "prioritization"....where links to a wide range of interesting topics could be shared, ranging from the super-technical to the cultural and artistic....man I wish I knew a site like that.

It's a good time to be actually making something neat, though -- because every aggregator under the sun links to it, and before you know where you are you've got visitors out the wazoo, or whatever it is da kidz say nowadays.

Man, tough crowd. I thought it was a pretty cool site for tracking general trends that come and go, instead of up-to-the-second lastest links in the blogosphere, which I've seen done a million times already.

It just feels a bit self-serving. Feedback loop.

(1) Scrape the web to work out what everyone's talking about.
(2) Put those popular topics on a page.
(3) People read that page to find out what's popular, so they can continue to talk about it.
(4) ...
(5) Profit!

I don't know about you, but I'd rather an aggregator that shows me "Here's a pile of obscure stuff you've never heard before!" than an aggregator that shows me "Here's a pile of stuff that's currently on every blog under the sun!"

I was underwhelmed but I did like the fact that nip slips made it as one of their debut memes. Just seemed kind of random, would like to see more randomness on there.

I wish there were an aggregator that aggregated other aggregator sites. If there were several siters that aggregated aggregators, we could aggregate those, too.

Quick gut reactions:

1. Hasn't this been done a thousand times before (thinking: blogdex, bloglines, reddit, popurls, digg etc)?

2. Since when did 4-21 links (averaging around 7) constitute "hot buzz"?

3. Are peoples' heads really as full of total shit as these hot topics suggest?

Web memes anywhere from two weeks to two years old, worksafe-filtered but topically diverse enough to be 'edgy' to people who say 'edgy' and mean it.

If I was in charge of pitching comarketing concepts to executives in charge of youth-oriented products, or if I was editing the lifestyles section of a suburban newspaper, this site would rock my world.
