If this wasn't already the first comment, I was going to make it so. :)

So, this Sarah Bishop is obviously an ass-man.

I like it.

That's some honky tonky badonkadonk, right there.

That's like the 2nd Armored Division of tank ass, there.

This seems very nuanced to me. Double entendre and all.

Those girls can stand with both feet flat on the floor and shit in a dumpster.

I learned that expression from a collection of short stories that had been printed in biker magazines, and have never been able to use it until now.

Everyone looked like that until I got my prescription adjusted.

That keeps getting funnier the longer I spend with it.

Interesting paintings, but I don't see anything "near abstract" about them.

Wow, I can actually trot out a fi-dolla word I learned not too long ago: "callipygian".

The art reminds me strangely of vegetables. In lingerie.

This is as much about broad hips and narrow waists as it is about asses. Your comments misrepresent the post!

If anyone ever wondered where the shape of a valentine came from, some of those pictures should lay the question to rest.

J Scott Campbell was drawing ridiculously disproportioned girls long before this artist came along.

All I wanna know is, how does anyone make the time to crank out like a hundred of these things?! I can barely do my day job work, a weekly webcomic and the occasional side piece... *sobs*

If I could turn out that much work I wouldn't need a day job.

Can't wait for the "Preggers n' Lactatin'" series.

Abstract, hell. That there is extremely, um, representational. As the Fark cats would say.

Hey, that's a cool word, callipygean.

The person who taught me that word also taught me:

The love life of the camel is
more interesting than anyone thinks.
It has been known at times
to try and bugger the Sphinx.

But the posterior end of the Sphinx is
clogged with the sands of the Nile
and that accounts for the camel's hump and
the Sphinx's inscrutable smile.

I like some of Sarah Bishop's other work on that site. Simple. Contemplative geometry.

Another artist, a late friend, Lawrence Willette, also loved painting callipygean women.

nickyskye:"The person who taught me that word also taught me:"

(A misremembered version that doesn't quite scan.)

The sexual life of the camel
ls stranger than anyone thinks
At the height of the mating season
He tries to bugger the sphinx
But the sphinx’s posterior sphincter
Is all clogged by the sands of the Nile
Which accounts for the hump on the camel
And the sphinx's instructable smile

In the process of syphilization
From the anthropoid ape down to man
It is generally held that the Navy
Has buggered whatever it can
Yet recent extensive researches
By Darwin and Huxley and Hall
Conclusively prove that the hedgehog
Has never been buggered at all.

Huh. If y'all can't see the abstracted shapes in this one, I don't know what to say. But ok, maybe most of the abstracting is occurring in my head, which is why I used "near-abstract." The way she pulls out and emphasizes shape and color from the female body reminded me of the way someone like Arthur Dove abstracted out shapes and color from landscapes and lawn mowers. It's clearly representational, sure, and not as far along as Dove's stuff, but I think the impulse to lose the representation in favor of stylized shapes is definitely there in some amount. I just see it more than you, I guess.

Perhaps being a fag helps me see past the badonkadonk more easily. :)
