In 1967 the Philco-Ford Corporation predicted that the year 1999 would see webcams, LCD screens, and instant meals from computerized kitchens in every home. Sadly, they seemed to have missed the feminism movement. Via Boing Boing.

"In the future, food will be stored in individual frozen portions. When needed, the household computer will extract them and microwave them to dethaw or heat as necessary. Meals will then be served with completely frozen centres but outside edges as hot as molten rock."

They had the technology back then, just about, so this wasn't simply future gazing. They just hadn't got much real-life experience with it.
