The War To End All Wars - Until The Next One

The Great War In A Different Light "Wars can set about vast changes in society, be switching points in history, can be begetters of social movements and the origin of future problems. They are also prime movers in bringing about innovation and new and different ways of doing things and of organizing society."

This is an incredible, multilingual site about WWI. It covers anything and everything, often with paintings and cartoons. You can see an ad for water-purifying drinking straws, volumes of trench humor, and essays on the garbage of war.

Sounds really, really cool -- sadly, at present I get nothing but image 404s :-/

Huh. I don't know what might be going on. I've got a 512K connection and images are taking their time loading, but I do get them. I tried a few other random links and they seem to be loading ok.

They have contact info at the bottom of the index page.

The only other thing I can think of is a firewall setting or someone between you and there is filtering something out.

Hmm. Some of them seem to work if I look at the source and manually enter the URL, and those I've seen are fabulous :)

the problem is adblock. look at the urls! "Advertisements" whitelist the site or turn off adblock.

I especially liked the portion about the brothels, etc. (mildy NSFW) -- not because it was titillating (it wasn't particularly) but because it was particularly humanizing.
