101 Simple Summer Meals. And don't forget to wash down your victuals with some local lemonade.

This post was deleted for the following reason: we ate 47 of these meals tonight at my house because we read about it previously on metafilter. -- jessamyn

Christ, sorry about that.

Before this gets closed -- this article has been one of the most "e-mailed" from the NYT's this summer. It held the #1 spot for quite some time...and ranks at #4 today.

Ack. Off to a great third start. Is it me or the site search that is broken?

It was new to me and I looked around here for it. So it goes.

I'm glad to see it resulted in a healthy thread. Good food is the essence of MetaFiler. I'll be much, much more careful next time.

Searching on the very term that you use for this FPP - '101 Simple Summer Meals" in the MeFi search box brings up these results -- with the first result being the original thread!

Well, ericb, you win! You might want to take the wife out to dinner tonight. I'll take care of the tip.

So. No harm. No foul. With what liquor can I spike your lemonade tonight, S.U.H.? ; )

Searching on the very term that you use for this FPP

I did what I used to do in a previous life: I searched for the URL. But I used the NYT link generator to post the link so as not to be called out for a "registration only" faux pas. A precautionary measure... heh. The road to education is paved with best intentions. It was a weak post anyways. I'll do better next time. My Second First Post will be so good that MetaFilter will shut down all on its own as a matter of respect.

If we were at jessamyn's right now, I'd totally school y'all at Scrabble.

I am at jessamyn's right now. That makes this all the more funny. I'd like to buy a vowel, Matt.

"I am at jessamyn's right now."

Tell her to get off her ass and close this thread.

It was a weak post anyways.

Actually no, if viewed by how many "favorited" the original ("147 users marked this as a favorite").

Searching on a URL (and even a user-friendly NYT Link Generator one) is likely to miss previous posts. Searching for such can be an "art" and sometimes a "science."

Don't be discouraged by your "third miss." Hang in there. Your instincts for posting links which MeFites will likely find interesting has been 100% "on target." After all -- you're 3-for-3 on such! ; )

heh. ericb. Thanks.

My oringinal First Post here was much better and that is what I have to live up to. This was just a weak, opportinistic post and my search/research was lacking as was made clear above... I like to think I know what this place is about and then it tickles the inside of my anus unexpectedly.
posted by St Urbain's Horseman at 6:41 PM on August 4, 2007

Of those 147 users who marked it as a favorite, most ate at McDonalds today.

I would just like to say that Mark Bittman has a killer batting average in the "Is this cooking piece in the paper something I can actually use in my daily life?" World Series.

"I am at jessamyn's right now."

Oh, that's right -- tonight is the Northern New England Meetup at Jessamyn's -- even open to stalkers who find it creepy behavior to have a meet-up at her house.

Is Summer Meals compatible with Winter? Or do I need an emulator?

Looks like some great ideas. Thanks SUH.

(I'm still not clear if this is actually a double post, but I'm glad it's here.)

This place is largely unmoderated in the middle of the North-Amercan night. I can see why the wonder chicken is chomping at the bit. (pun intended...)

I say you make a plea to keep this up because the other one has reached favorited-post saturation level, and this one can take the overflow.

You're The Deej!

Spoken in a small, futile and exhaustd "You're the man!" type voice.

Do what you think is right. Me? I'm going to sleep off this particular pointy humiliationan and wake up to post...

Ah, no...

Operant conditioning...

Those aren't recipes. That's just cooking. The idea that you'd have to read that in the Times!
