Finish the Fight

The trailers are nothing short of inspired. The toughest gamer critics--girls-- beta tested it. Even pro sport types want in on the game. There's no doubt that Microsoft needs it. And He's the hottest Halloween costume this year. After 11 months of suspense (and dedicated advertising), fans are counting down the hours. And some of them just couldn't make it until Tuesday, September 25th.

This post was deleted for the following reason: This kind of reads like an unironic monument to successful marketing campaign. Also, some recent Halo 3 talk. -- cortex

(Sorry, but those kinds of stories annoy me.) The game itself looks exciting!

Yeah, frankly, that there's a huge marketing push for Halo isn't really all that notable, and previous posts on Halo have been more interesting. This just reads like breathless cheerleading.

In other news, all new Pepsi Blue!

Not going to be as good as Bioshock and therefor not worth my time.

Yes! Pitfall 2k7 is finally here! At the Linucon cosplay this year, I am so going as Pitfall Harry. I'm going to bring my own vine! It will be so LOL!

By the way, I just clicked on that trailers link. People, it's 2007. We have all agreed to use flash video from now on. No more quicktime or WMV crap anymore.

Pepsi blue and a lame girls play games article.

Luckily Halo 3 looks so damn good.

I'd much rather watch a wmv any day. Something about the fact that the compression doesn't necessarily look like COMPLETE CRAP.

I must be the only Microsoft fanboy in the world who doesn't care about Halo. The trailers look no more interesting than any other shooter I've seen... and they're blown away by Bioshock and Call of Duty 4.

I'd be a lot more excited if idolm@ster was brought to the U.S., so take anything I say with a grain of salt.

Meh. When are we going to get something that's better than Deus Ex?

[MS is spending $10 million to promote this derivative sequel, failing the the "most people haven't seen it" test in the guidelines, in my opinion. Flagged appropriately.]

Yeah. I'm sure the game will be fun, but a lot of the hype about this game is just, well, hype. I mean It seems exciting because Microsoft wants you to be excited.

I remember being super excited about new games when I was a kid. I remember the anticipation of playing Mario 64 for example, or being excited about Quake 1 and 3 (Quake 2 never did much for me)

I don't play video games much any more, though. And after years of playing quake with a keyboard and mouse I could not adapt to using an x-box controller to play an FPS, at least not quickly enough to pwn other people in multiplayer games in their dorm rooms, so I never became interested in halo.

The other thing is, reading about Microsoft super tweaked every point in the game so that gamers would never get frustrated or bored by having people play hundreds and hundreds of hours and excising any 'problem' areas. It might be fun, but it would feel more like "playing" a movie then exploring something.

Blah.

The trailers are brilliant. I've resisted the lure of the xbox360 for over a year, but with this and bioshock, I'm crumbling fast.

It's interesting that the adverts hint at the fact that master chief dies at the end of the game. If it's true (and I'm not saying it is), it's gonna be fun to see how they market their way into halo 4.

Oh - and if you think I'm happily looking forward to the inevitable Ariel vs Master Chief most affecting video game death fanboy arguments, then you're wrong.

I'm looking forward to playing Bioshock myself. But to compare anything to Halo... is... well... ignorant. It's a new frontier.

To understand the level of sophistication that Halo Live allows you've got to play Halo for awhile. Old fashion games like Bioshock don't allow gamers to exist virtually. The submersion possible in Halo is so effective that personality and identity become part of the game experience.

Bioshock will be a puzzle. A fun, interactive puzzle, but a puzzle. It won't be real.

This is the hottest Halloween costume of the year now?

Daaang it, y'all!

'Cuz I'd already gone out and bought a sparkly bikini and bad hair weave and two little baby dolls I could neglect. And I've memorized the song... which was like, really hard because there's a lot of words. Well, okay two. Gimme and more. But I was gonna rock it and now it's ruined. That's it. You are all like, totally fired. Where's mah cigarette? Daaaaang!
