Lisl will spend the rest of her life in prison for a crime she didn't commit This site outlines Lisl Auman's case. Her case is being supported by Hunter S Thompson. She will be appealing the ruling this spring. There are links to Thompson's articles on espn.com, as well as Lisl's site.

Perhaps I would feel sympathy for her, if only I could read the dumb thing...It's damn near impossible.

this was kinda covered awhile ago - is DoublePostGuy busy watching the Oscars or something?

For those who dislike dark gray text on black, flying birds, and MIDI files of Dust In The Wind when mixed with long passages of text to read -- it's Google to the rescue! Led me to this, good synopsis of what this self-post is about. An interesting case, to be sure.

Since you seem to be new here, I'll just point out that linking to your own site is considered quite bad form.

Oracle Femme seems to be getting quite a lashing here, yet for the most trivial of reasons. The site she refers us to isn't nearly as good as the official one (which I don't know why she doesn't point us there). Nevertheless, it is an important case that has been shuffled under the carpet. And perhaps a discussion is in order. But obviously Lisl's case doesn't sell, as it was hardly "gone over before" with a mere four or five posts.

Then again I may be partial--I vaguely knew Lisl but was friends with many of her friends in Denver. . .haha I know how that sounds, but that's the point. Lisl Auman is a scapegoat in the Denver Police's and media's zeal to pin someone for the going ratings of that day November 12 1997. Now the news doesn't sell. The public has largely forgotten about it. And her case affects none of us, as long as we're not thinking of it. Maybe we'll eventually accept it that George W Bush is rightfully the president too.

Fickle, fickle.

Okay I see the link to the official site on the January log. And it was six posts it originally got.

Man oh man, is there a full moon out tonight or something? This thread's got newbie arrogance and cluelessness oozing all over the place.

Hey c'mon that's not a fair thing to say. I was only replying to the issue. No need to flame just because I'm new to your country club. And what was so arrogant and clueless about what I wrote? I can see only one person being arrogant here.

And embedded MIDI files ought to be felony crimes unto themselves. There's nothing one can add to a web page that will drive away more potential readers than that.
posted by aaron at 11:09 PM on March 25, 2001

Furthermore, you'll never find me defending midi music. Note: the issue is what prompted me to post. I thought that's what these things were for.

What was arrogant and clueless? Walking in the front door of a community out of nowhere and immediately launching into two-pronged attacks on the community's long-established rules and traditions. And topping it off with a blatant political troll that's completely irrelevant to the topic at hand.
posted by aaron at 11:16 PM on March 25, 2001

Whatever. . .that is complete and total bullshit. Lisl Auman's name jumped out at me because I was familiar with the case. I was only defending the original poster because of the fact that she was new, like me, but perhaps had not read the terms of service. And to say that a mere analogy used in my post is a troll is utterly ridiculous. Mind if I search through your posts to see if you've ever used one?

Who do you think you are? The "father of internal bushings"? (to quote the original Fletch). And lastly, why must you be so hateful? If you wanna take it up from here feel free to email me.

If you can't glean my intent on who's fickle. . .it's the media. Read it and maybe you'll realize, Aaron, that you hastened to posture like the alpha male it appears you think you are.

i don't think it's as bad as all that, aaron... i think crasspastor has a bit of hanging around to do before he figures stuff out, but i think for the most part he was just defending a newbie... he may be wrong on a couple of counts, but i think it's fairly obvious that he's not *just* trying to piss everyone off.

Geez aaron, chill out on this guy please! Yes, there are some newbies on this thread making mistakes, but at least they're honest mistakes. And crasspastor seems to have some interesting views and a great sense of humour in responding to the claims against him. Whereas I think it's pretty lame to respond with

*yawn* FreeSpeech, Rightwinger, Private Parts...

when newbies won't even know who that guy is. And it seems to me crasspastor and rightwinger don't have much in common anyway.

Props to crasspastor for *trying* to get something positive out of a poisoned thread.

Aaron, you're turning into an elitist! Welcome!

ok, group hug. Old, new and middle-aged...we are all elitists in our own way. [my way is better though--of course.]

It was as though millions of voices cried out and said "there, there" and I woke up checked the thread and all was okay. Now, if only that could be said for Lisl. Perhaps we'll take it up another time. Thanks all.

Can I have the honors?

Dudes, chill.

I did that post intentionally.

This chick has/is going down big time and you are worrying
about internet etiquette.

Crassposter, drilldown to the mainlink, which I have posted.
Sorry if it's too much of an effort. Hey, I can see the site fine; again, not to repeat myself, take an effort to extend your horizons. Life is not comic books.

I live in Denver, I live next door to where it happened.
I remember trying to come home when it hapened, It's real for me, not for you. I know the players, prosecution-wise. Personally. Not a straight deck.

Dig the tweeties, I love cartoons. Tuff it.

and furthermore, should I expound upon the merits of Imelda Marcos or some other regrettable instance that supports no logic for mankind? Newbie? Think again.

What's up wit tha gangsta tip? If you have an issue of merit (I hope you do--other than that you were "next door" to it), why not present it as such? Matters of justice demand full functionality of standard Engligsh usage. Indeed matters of justice also deserve the attention of the public. Never push away your allies friend.

Luckily, you can't push me away from the injustice of this by your ego about your proximity to it all.

This is one fucked up thread I involved myself in. . .

I'm drunk tonight! Jeezus am I sorry. . .I'm beginning to reread the thing. I think it was your accidental(?) spelling of my handle that set me off as "Crassposter". . .I'm drunk and jittery these days.
