James Watson, a Nobel Prize winner for his part in discovering the structure of DNA, has said he was “inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa” because “all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours - whereas all the testing says not really."

It's weird-- I feel like I've read about the racist statements of James Watson at least a dozen times before on MeFi, but searching turns up nothing. Either way, it's not exactly breaking news, not that it need be to be on the front page.

Interesting.
This goes hand in hand with my theory that children who are malnourished, ruled over by despotic warlords, forced to mine diamonds at gunpoint and/or attacked by men with machetes tend to do poorly on tests.

Metafilter's posting policy is based on the fact that all the members are intelligent. The testing says not really.

What an asshole! I heard Rosalind Franklin deeply loved all Africans and thought they were of superior intelligence but died before her thoughts on Africans could be recorded!
