Shred!

Santeri Ojala's satirical overdubs of guitar solos may have got the take-down at YouTube, but you can still see them on MySpaceTV: Iron Maiden. Carlos Santana. Steve Vai. Eric Clapton. etc.

Wired is also hosting the videos. Previous mention on MeFi. Ojala shreds live with Slash on the Jimmy Kimmel show. (via, via)

This was pretty well covered last week, in a still-open thread.

Blast! Why didn't anybody say the dude's name in there? Oh well.

Wow, the tags on that last entry were pretty horrid. Mashup? Really? It's like someone read a Kevin Kelly article, thought about it, started to write about it, got the title & tags, & then got derailed by the video takedown.

I knew the shredder best as the youtube artist formerly known as StSanders.

And I'm wondering if a soon-to-be-deleted duplicate post has to deteriorate.

Well, I flagged it. I guess if nothing else I wouldn't have seen the link to gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooogle.com if I hadn't posted this.

I'm currently listening to Barracuda, but that & California Dreamin' are just perfectly deranged.

They've uploaded 183 videos?! Wow.

I saw many of these a while back on YouTube and enjoyed them thoroughly (let's face it, they're damn funny, and excellently done) but didn't know til now who was responsible for them. Thanks for the post.

Wow, Iron Maiden are actually an improvement.

The Eric Clapton one is even more of an improvement.

The only one that made me LOLish was the Paco De Lucia parody.

I'd like to suggest that Victor Lewis Smith got there first, although I realise that no-one, least of all Santeri Ojeri, has any idea who Victor Lewis Smith is.

from wired"I feel disappointed," said Ojala in an email exchange on Wednesday. "I am amazed that this kind of arbitrary censorship occurs in the free internet."

Well dude, you did agree to a terms of service that said don't infringe peoples copyright or we'll shut down your account. It's not censorship when a site sets up rules you can play by, and enforces them when you don't. How hard is this to understand?
