Jews from Arab Countries, the forgotten refugees

The exodus of nearly 856,000 Arab Jews from Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Tunisia, Yemen, Morocco, Iraq, Algeria, and Libya began after the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948. This event occurred at the same time that a similar number of Palestinians left Israel. Like the Palestinians, some left of their own free will and others were forced out, their properties and businesses confiscated.

This post was deleted for the following reason: This post seems to be a little broken, and maybe not such a great presentation of what is a pretty hot-button topic around here. -- cortex

Was the Palestinians link supposed to go to the Justice for Jews site? Because, most Palestinians aren't Jews.

That ax looks pretty sharp already.

Oh, so it all balances out perfectly! Palestinians got kicked out of Israel, at the exact same time that the exact same number of Jews got kicked into Israel.

Boy, it sure is lucky that there were all those vacant homes for those (I'm not a Zionist! I was forced into Israel!) Jewish folks to flee to.

I expect this profound revelation will bring immediate peace in the Middle East.

I think the point is that the situation in the Middle East is complicated and can't be reduced to facile slogans and easy solutions.

But feel free to carry on.

The first and third links don't seem to be pointing where they should -- worbid411, maybe you could have these fixed or post the intended links in a comment?

Wel, let's hope they aren't pointing where they should anyway. 'Cause despite what I said, this is a crappy FPP if it's two links to "justice for jews" and one news article.

On Monday, Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., is scheduled to introduce a resolution that would instruct U.S. envoys to raise the Jewish refugee issue every time the Palestinian refugee issue is raised as "an integral part of any comprehensive peace."

So the Palestinians would be responsible for securing compensation for Jewish refugees from Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen? Why?
