Most Hated Song in the World

The most hated holiday song in the world is 21 minutes, 59 seconds long. It features the accordion and bagpipe, an operatic soprano rapping and singing atonal music, and the exhortation of a grating children's chorus: "Christmas time! Christmas time! / Jesus, Mary and the manger / Christmas time, family time / Do all your shopping at Wal-Mart!" Its creators calculate that it will be disliked by all but a few hundred of the world's population. Listen here and hate it, too. via

I love it.

I was laughing continually by the time it reached the 15 minute mark.

The "most liked" song was a little bland for my tastes (how couldn't it be, right?)

I dug it too!

Therefore, it can be shown that if there is no covariance--someone who dislikes bagpipes is as likely to hate elevator music as someone who despises the organ, for example--fewer than 200 individuals of the world's total population would enjoy this piece.

I think it's kind of cheating, though, by changing styles so much. It's like saying "nobody would like a movie with Shakespeare, exploding helicopters, Adam Sandler, furry porn, Jar Jar Binks, and synchronized swimming," and proceeding to make a movie with six fifteen-minute segments devoted to each of those subjects. There are passages of this that aren't terrible; some of them are actually pretty fun.

I've had this in my iTunes library for a while. I always know it's going to be an interesting day when random play kicks it on. Do all your shopping - at Walmart!

I love the most unwanted song so hard. If you like Nina Hagen, Dan Deacon, Diamanda Galas and Ren & Stimpy, how can you not love it?

Let's see if they're all MeFites.

That's right, reishus, this is a double. And the most hated posts are doubles. This is all part of my organizing theme.

Delete away, mods.

It's the soundtrack to "Peewee's Playhouse-- The Lost Episode".

I like the parts of it that at least pretend to be music, honestly. It's the parts where they just throw bunches of shit together that are grating - and I enjoy proper, well-done glitch too. It feels like they're outright cheating. "Let's just mix a million samples at once with no thoughts given towards harmony under ANY system, old or new!"

That's not music, that's a stunt.

Well it's good to know Chumbawumba is still hard at work.

Oh and I also love that public opinion polling is America's version of Stalinism.

over an accompaniment of bagpipe, tuba and accordian (statistically, America's least favorite instruments)
I love all three of those instruments. The rapping soprano not so much though.
