How to eat gourmet on the cheap No matter where you live, there is most likely a culinary school near you. Most operate like a real business. I had a salmon BLT, horseradish coleslaw, home baked bread and raspberry custard flambe. Total? 9.95.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Cheap eats at culinary school restaurants are pretty great, but this is awfully thin on content for a post to the front page. -- cortex

wouldn't that be a SBLT?

Quite often you can eat very well at restaurants and cafes run by culinary schools - the only real downside is that the food is often inconsistent. The CIA in Hyde Park NY has a very good bakery/cafe on campus, the other restaurants on site are significantly more expensive.

I understand you're new to posting, Tablecrumbs, but this really isn't the kind of thing that should be posted here. The link to culinary schools is helpful, but the first link is only useful if you live in Iowa.

I don't speak for management here, but I personally appreciate new members taking an interest and contributing to the front page. So don't be discourage if your post gets deleted. It happens to all of us.

Thanks, and have a nice day.

I live in Canada's national capital, and apparenly none of the 16 (really? only 16?) Canadian cooking schools are here. Color me unimpressed...
