Here's a yes or no interview with the artist.

I feel like I'm back in high school, doodling in my notebook.

There's a couple other interviews and a video on his bio page.

Took me, like, three hours to finish the shading on your upper lip.
It's probably the best drawing I've ever done.

At first glance I was, "yeah, wotever". Then I looked again, now I'm hooked. This is fantastic (literally, yes, but still) stuff. Thanks for the post.

I went to college with this guy, but I didn't know him well (although we both dated the same girl and it was a very small school, so you know something about everyone). From what I remember of his work then, he has always mined this sort of creepy fantastical vein. And I was always jealous of his name.

Take one part Monster Manual, one part Muppet Show, one part Crumb, sprinkle liberally with LSD while playing the Hevy Metal soundtrack and voila!

Awesome! His site is hosted by a friend of mine who runs a small press, Better Non Sequitur and also a short fiction site, Pequin (1000 words or less!)

P: ... Is there more to your work than strange creature creation, non sequitur juxtapositions, and irony?

MF: No.

Big points for honesty.

I forgot that when I was in college I was an editor for the literary journal and we published some of his art (nobody read or bought the literary journal we produced). I hope he gets really famous, because I am probably one of a handful of people that actually still have those journals. I also meant to mention before that I like his work, especially because he doesn't seem to try to overlay it with meaning and it seems to come straight from the his psyche.

Reminiscent of good high-school doodling, sure, but I liked it a lot. My fave.

It's as though Lynda Barrie were doing graphic novels for Stephen King.

That was very cool, thanks for the post.

This one is awesome. It lured me in... "Aww, look! It's a cute little monster reading a book!" Click. "Aww, look! There's a severed limb hanging above his head! And what's his cute little friend eating?" Heh. Good stuff.

This was by far my favorite, though.

I just noticed that his comics weren't actually on that site I linked to. They're on his myspace blog. Might want to check those out too.
