Your laptop is a musical instrument. The Back to Basics software offered by Hard rocking, hard ware band O.R.I. will not garner many comments, but should be tried out. Devo meets Servotron and pretends to be Phillip Glass.

How sad. I hate to see a decent post ignored.

Super weird surf rockers Man or Astroman? use this in their stage show as well. In fact they have been using this for at least 3 years to my knowledge and offer the software off of their web site as well.

Both bands share Coco, who is the one most likely to be talking at either bands shows. The programer of BtoB is in O.R.I tho. My wife paid the shareware fee for me, and I have been playing with this software for the last few years. It is cool stuff. Way more intuitive than the Rebirth 303 emulator, way kookier too.

Fans of Man or Astro Man and Futurama would probably like Servotron too.

That one's good, you may also be interested in soundplant (for windows only.)

Neither of them run very well on my laptop, so I'm writing my own software to do the same (well, almost :) thing. E-mail me if you are interested, and I'll send you a copy when it's decent.

Also, Man or Astroman? r0x0rs.

Oh, also, check out the wizardmaster MIDI controller on the ORIsoft page. Very weird and fun.
