Barak and another flip-flop

Obama has made many contradictory statements with regard to Iraq. Is he in favour of a withdrawal only when he gets credit?

Anyway, I think this is the link you wanted. But Obama's positions are not contradictory at all, dispite what some douche bag says while interpreting unprovable statements from some random Iraqi minister. Obama's public position has always been that congress should be involved in approving any troop agreements, and so asking to delay the signing of the agreement wouldn't actually result in any delays in actually withdrawing troops. In fact, troops could be withdrawn regardless of any agreements Bush signs with the Iraqis.

You mean, Obama might prefer that George W. "Heck of job" Bush and his neo-con clown circus not be the ones to determine the details of the withdraw?

Sounds good to me.

Of course, even that's only if this report, three months after the fact and with one source, in an oped column not a news article, is actually true.

Okay, in all seriousness, recall that in the current Palinarama thread, five fresh fish posted an item that was the left-wing equivalent of swiftboating: poorly sourced and probably bullshit. And he got called out on it, and he retracted it, and life goes on. So it's not like we're cherry-picking facts on this site. Your broken link to the NYP with no actual evidence is ridiculous on its face.

Obama's flip-flopping about Iraq is nothing compared to his complete lack of position in regards to Czechoslovakia.

If we were living in an ideal world, none of the candidates would give speeches or have photo ops. They would each submit detailed formal reports and a business plan on how they specifically plan to run the country and what their citizens should expect to see when their term is up.

There would be no ads or mud-slinging or canned events of babies getting politician germs and then we wouldn't have all these discussions about whether a politician flip-flopped, or even wore flip-flops.

But we are not living in an ideal world.

Shoot...

I had seen that article posted in a number of places to show that Obama was using things for his own end. From what I recall, Iraq announced that they wanted a withdrawal and apporved the Obama timeframe. The the Bush administration announced that we and not this brand new democracy (Iraq0 would decide when we would leave. I believe too that Obama has stressed over and over than withdrawn troops are needed in Afghanistan, the place where Al Qaeda operates and incressingly is getting stronger with the Taliban.

Poor McCain, though, distancing himself from Bush announces today, in nearly the same words as Bush, that the economy will be ok and take care of itself and get fixed soon. Despite the market today: the worst drop in prices since 9/11...

Now take the announced Bush troop withdrawal stats; in fact those announced very recently would still leave more troops in Iraq that prior to the surge.

He chose the ballsy path of building links within the description, instead of using the pussified and cautious add link URL followed by add link text path. That he failed miserably is only a testament to the difficulty faced when selecting the build links in description option.

Can I just say that I dream of a Metafilter where a well-supported post on this topic would not be called out as an obvious troll and would not be immediately filled with Obama supporters who came to mock the poster? I mean, madamejujujive's post on McCain's lying was constructed better and had multiple links, all of which worked, and did not have the same tone to the tags. But it certainly wasn't unbiased. I can't imagine seeing a pro-McCain post on the front page, and if it suddenly appeared as if sprung from Zeus' head, fully formed, I cannot imagine it going well. I'm just saying. (And I'm pro-Obama!)
