On the Rain-Slick Precipace of Darkness, Episode... Two-o-o-o

Return to the Rain-slick Precipace! (Of Darkness.) Gaming webcomic Penny Arcade and independent game developer Hothead Games (and by independent, as with publishing houses, music labels, and film studios, we of course mean tiny) released today their Penny Arcade Adventure, On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode Two. To quote Gabe (Penny Arcade's artist, because I'm lazy), "episode 2 has more puzzles, more flash cut scenes, multiple difficulty settings, a longer story with more dialog options and some really epic boss fights." It is also only $14.95, five dollars cheaper than the first episode was at release, and the first episode's price has been dropped to match. Of course, you can't get the game at any of the links above: to do that you need to go to Greenhouse, Penny Arcade and Hothead's showcase for indie games (or buy it on X-box Live for $15 worth of points).

Greenhouse launched with the first episode of OTRSPOD, back in May. Since then, they've collected a small but exceedingly fine collection of games. These include Eschalon: Book I, an old-school PC RPG in the vein of Baldur's Gate or Might & Magic; Strange Attractors 2, a bizarre and addictive puzzle game based on gravity manipulation; World of Goo, an even more bizarre puzzle game more reminiscent of Lemmings than anything else I can think of, only instead of having your little dudes build stuff, you build stuff with your little dudes (who are made of goo); and (my favorite) Spectromancy, a CCG that doesn't (at least so far) monetize the first C, developed in part by Magic: the Gathering's original creator, Richard Garfield. Each game is from a different indie development house.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Kind of agreeing with the critical sentiment here; a strong post specifically about Greenhouse (if no one has made one) could be totally fine, but a paragraph about Episode II above the fold in a sequel post is going overboard. -- cortex

I'd make a Pepsi Blue joke, but seriously. Pricing information and "check a local store near you" rhetoric on the front page?

Caduceus, I understand you're a fan, but I'm not so sure the second episode of a planned episodic game series warrants another post, especially with the bang-up job you did on the first game.

You know what, on second thought, I'll shut up. I like the extra info on Greenhouse games. (Boy the direct game retailer business is getting crowded. I can buy World of Goo in no less than 3 places online. Which is good!)

Xbox. Not X-box, XBOX, X-Box, EksBawks, or Box of Xs.

Of course, it's also Precipice.

Sorry. I figured the extra info on the Greenhouse games warranted a new post, but if not, well, so be it. I've managed to avoid a deleted post thus far; one won't kill me.

You misspelled Precipice in the Episode One post also. I approve of OTRSPOD, but, yeah, do we need a multiple-paragraph post for every episode?

I agree, I'm glad you pointed Greenhouse out to me. Unfortunately, it probably should have gone above the cut and not below to appear less of a shill for the new game. If this gets deleted, please re-do the post with just the Greenhouse stuff! I'm really liking the looks of Eschalon.
