What's really behind the current decline in gas prices?

Is it a ploy by big oil to drive down prices so that there will be less motivation to work towards alternative energy sources, or is it because we have reduced our oil useage due to the high prices?

This post was deleted for the following reason: yeah, a single link to a book club isn't quite enough meat for a post, sorry. -- mathowie

It's amazing how devious they are. When oil prices go up, it's a plot by them to make lots of money. When oil prices go down, it's a plot by them, too.

I loves me some peak oil stories, and am all over the corporate control and climate change stuff, but ain't this a little thin for an FPP?

So this whole post is a single link, which isn't even to some sort of essay, or reasoned argument, or even a fucking opine, but to a book club page about a book they are reading/have read/offer for sale?

Weak.

One link to a book club?

Huh. I thought this would be a more complicated issue requiring more study. Shouldn't we at least shill it though the Amazon Link so the OverLords of MeFi get their referrer nickel?

This is the most asinine thing I have heard all day. That is, of course, if the FPP sums up the interviews, which I didn't have time to watch.

Please note, the link goes to a page with three embedded videos and no transcript.

The spice must flow!!!

On a serious note, I spent 8 months working in state government oversight of energy performance contracting. _______ (fill in the blank) has an ESCO (Energy Service Company) offshoot called _______ Energy Solutions.

Ugh.

They were like the new Joker, tempting Energy Efficiency-Batman to stop the statewide carnage of unrealized savings and problematic engineering. I'm being unfair to a few very good people from that outfit, but the organization as a whole was scary, especially to the state program who's continuance rests on a good track record of overseen projects. Forget greenwashing, this was green sabotage.

This FPP, though... yeah, weak sauce.
