Willie Aames (aka Bibleman) recently tried to kill himself over the holidays.

I don't call out many posts, but a crap link to a note on a cheesy magazine's lame website to "Pick up the Star" for more details doesn't a good post make.

pretty obscure... not sure that this is fpp material..

Well here's an article about it from The LA Times and Fox News and Radar.

HuronBob, and substrate, your attitude toward this post pretty clearly reflects your opinion of Willie Aames's past work, as artfully as you avoid directly saying so. The fact is, Aames is a major historical figure in cape-wearing bible heroes, etc, and has just tried to off himself. I think that makes this fpp important. So fuck off.

This thread could go one of two ways: hurfdurf washedup star kills himself or toobadyoudidn'tsuccedfundyfascistblabla.... both would be kind of depressing frankly.

Does anyone else have "Charles in charge of our days, of our lives... I want Charles in charge of me!" going through their head over and over again?

The holidays can be rough on anyone.

Hell, I don't know what to say. Hope he gets his life together, I know things can look bleak sometimes.

I thought he was hilarious on Charles in Charges. I really did.

Well, I do now. Thanks, jerk.

Me too.

Also this is the dumbest post ever.

No dude, this is the dumbest post ever. But you were a close second.

But you were a close second.

I aspire to write a post that bad... maybe someday my dreams will come true.

Actually reading some of the articles about his suicide attempt, I really can't help but feel very sorry for him. It's stuff like this that makes me glad I'll probably never be famous, even if for just 15 minutes.

Whenever I think of Willie Aames, I think of this picture

and these Speedo pictures

which I stumbled across as a very impressionable young gayster...

none of this has anything to do with anything, except that it makes it even less Bibleman than before and I thought it could help make this post even more ridiculous.

You're welcome.

Well, damn. That sucks a lot. For some weird reason, I always kinda like Bibleman. I mean... I actually own a bibleman outfit. It was a goofy gift from a while back - I was the token Xian in our little anarchist college coop. But the concept is so harmless - it wasn't like he was "gay-basher man" or "anti-choice man." He was just Bible Man.

I don't know why this is tearing me up so much. Aames just seemed like this goofy ass guy and a weird excuse for a super hero and I guess I didn't expect this.

What I never realized about Charles in Charge is it went on air with one family, got canceled and then came back on another network with a completely different family. Only the Charles and Buddy characters were the same. THEY NEVER EXPLAINED WHERE THE FIRST FAMILY WENT.

I was also taking antidepressants and antianxiety pills. It got so bad, I put a knife to my throat and cut myself in six places. The police came, put me in handcuffs and whisked me away.

Big deal, I do that every weekend.

Following links from the Aames wikipedia entry, I learned that Ralph Macchio is 47 years old!

I'm going to lead myself off to the glue factory now.

One day, a couple of years ago, a large manila envelope arrived at my house. Inside, was an autographed poster of Willie Aames as Bibleman. No one has ever fessed up to doing the deed.
