Torcida em Portugal. 'Supporters in Portugal'. This brought a smile to my face, though lets hope only the copper's pride was seriously hurt.

Trying to find out more about the clip, I chanced upon this ancient but intriguing article. What a very good idea!

Red card for the cop.
Yellow for the midfielder.

You know there are sites for just this kind of videos? They also show dog fights, traffic accidents, robberies, stabbings, murders and usually some porn.

They never give any context. I've seen this video in at least three of these sites, one claimed the guard was brain damaged, another claimed broken ribs, and the last one said "video of a pig getting paralyzed for life".

They mention the coach's name as Trapattoni. He was Benfica's coach from about 2004 to 2005 so that right there makes this an old clip. (Benfica is one of the teams playing)

Also, weak post.

I'm thinking more than the cop's pride was hurt, considering those vicious headkicks the crowd is giving him.

The video was awesome up until that point, it just really makes me wish that the crowd stopped at the point that the officer had taken what he had dished out.

No, the last one said "Torcida em Portugal. 'Supporters in Portugal'. This brought a smile to my face, though lets hope only the copper's pride was seriously hurt."

Also, it was an away game so NOT in Portugal. They were in Switzerland playing against Etoile Carouge.

Of course you are right, I don't go to them 'cos I don't like that stuff. This clip though, as I said, brought a smile to my face. Maybe having headbutted a policeman's boot myself, my sense of decency is broken.

Vacapinta Good information. I can only apologise for my lack of it. I used to go to footy matches a long time ago, but the crowd violence did my head in and I now know nothing.

Does Metafilter bill itself as the best of the web?

Is this the best of the web? Because it's not about Obama's condom brand, legos, Star Wars or obscure death metal radio station websites...
