I think it's a testament to the serious intensity of the original work that the parodies seem so massively egregious, and thus funnier than they have any right to be. The 80's cartoon spoof of The Watchmen really, really worked for the same reason.

The sad part is that there is a watchman game. Its a mindless two person fighting game. I think in the end Moore's refusal to take any part of this will be seen as a very smart move.
