"Best of the Web"

Can I quote you on that?

So I guess these are all "quotation" marks, then.

Would you like "fries" with that?

"This" is "good."

In my high school cafeteria, there was a large stockpot in the corner with the sign "Soup". Nobody ever ate the soup equivalent, from what I could tell.

I'm "surprised" this hasn't been "posted" here "yet."

This is a major pet peeve of mine, so I will probably read this and seethe horribly. "Thanks."

Looks like it's "deletion" time.

Actually it "has".

So it's a "double", then?
posted by daniel_charms at 5:19 AM on March 31, 2009

There's room here for a double-quotes double-post if somebody wants to make it.

Oh I'm going to "eat" that alright.

Hey look, they "mapped" their "blog" onto a domain "name". "Sadly", it's still a double.

Where's the descriptivists now?

Also, my cafeteria has a sign that says (without the quotes) "Soup du jour of the day"

The unnecessary quotation mark appears to be a close sibling of the grocer's apostrophe.
