Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like Bea? Legendary actress and comedian of screen and stage, star of the landmark Maude and the later cultural touchstone Golden Girls, Bea Arthur, recent inductee to the Television Hall of Fame, iconoclast, dies at 86. Oh, what'll we do?

Oh wow.

I JUST told someone this morning that Bea Arthur was still alive, and that she'd probably live forever.

I read this post, sitting at home alone on my couch and actually went "Nooooooooooooooo!" out loud. I am surprised for some reason to hear that she was 86.

That's a damn shame. She was a funny lady and may she rest in peace.

Saw Norman Lear speak about her a few weeks ago-- he said that the Network Execs called him demanding a spinoff for her before the credits even rolled on her All In The Family debut. She was the best!

I had such a crush on Bea.*

I made my Mom sew one of those long vesty things I saw her wear on 'All In The Family' and 'Maude.'

I was four feet tall and in grade school....it didn't quite work for me.

*(Should have been a clue, right there.)
