Authorities in south Florida say a homeless man beheaded a good Samaritan who had given him a place to stay. Lee County Sheriff's deputies went to 70-year-old Charles Rogers' apartment Thursday and found his body still in his wheelchair. His head had been placed near the front door.

Gruesome, yes. FPPworthy, no.

And just to be gentle: eiro0701, there is a way to make a good Metafilter post, but news-of-the-weird one-link BeheadingFilter posts are not. This MetaTalk post is gold.

He'll never be the head of a major corporation.

Not a good time to lose one's head.

So, now it's down to:

1. Avoid the Greyhound.
2. Avoid Virginia Tech.
3. Avoid taking in strangers.

Beheadings aside, you might want to check out Crunchland's userpage for a good set of guidelines on how to make a really kickass FPP.

Yeah, you should fill this out with a video of a beheading and a bunch of pdf links of university professors opinions of the societal repercussions of this sort of thing.

This is why I won't do this.

In honor of the other self-defense outrage post, I say that we get the pro- and con- beheading sides hashed out here before it gets deleted.

Well, FuManchu, which one are you? Pro-head or Pro-opportunity?*

*the opportunity to get a head, of course.

He's just trying to show that it isn't just Radical Muslims who do beheadings. We need to debunk such stereotypes. That said, delete away.

So there's the guy standing in the middle of the road, with a bag in one hand... and a fucking head in the other!

My fiance once took a Greyhound from Virginia Tech to Florida. He's okay. I just checked to make sure his head is still fully attached. So I think that should count in their favor.

This is why I won't [use couchsurfing].

I've never used the service or the concept, and I'm no particular defender of it. Nonetheless, there's a big difference between a public website with its attendant records and feedback system and an elderly disabled man taking in a homeless stranger. There is also a known correlation between homelessness and mental illness.

So this tragedy is not really comparable to couchsurfing. If anything, I'd say it's another example of why individual charity is a bad idea. Stick to paying your taxes, advocating for a better social safety net, and donating to worthy causes.

I am against beheading but in favor of beheading-based card games.

Hey, maybe we could not have made a policy of turning the mentally ill out onto the street. Maybe?
