The funny thing is that the previously discussed thread is the source of the BBC report mentioned in the second link, which now escalates the study summary to proclaim 'scientists and mathematicians have determined that an attack from zombies would "lead to the collapse of civilisation unless dealt with quickly and aggressively."'

This feels a bit like the translation party: the story builds on itself, as people re-report things and the details blossom into a greater fiction.
