Who are the hottest fighters in mixed martial arts? Ask a straight guy.

This post was deleted for the following reason: this is a single link blog post to a "hey let's ogle these people" essay. Without some context -- MMA is really interesting to straight guys because of this? yes? maybe? -- it's sort of thin ice for a MeFi post. -- jessamyn

And then they put Lesnar right under that. Stupid, stupid list.

It's also stupid because JSP is #1 and I hate the looks of that guy. That and Demian Maia not being on the list.

Is they ever do a follow up to the piss-poor Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li film, Andrei Arlovski should play a young Zangief.

I don't know who's the hottest, but if there's a better definition of "guilty pleasure" than Jason Ellis' XM radio show, I'd like to know about it. That dude cracks me up.

Oh he's straight! What an amusing twist!

Huh. Why is this an FPP? Straight guy rates the attractiveness of fighters? Am I missing some hidden depth here?

Incidentally:

Quinn, 25, teaches piano, does occasional studio work and has been following MMA since he was 8.

So, he was watching MMA in 1992 at the age of 8. Is he Brazilian?

More like "A sexually insecure guy's top MMA hotties", amirite?

Brock Lesnar is kinda hot for a brontosaurus.

Oh, and I'd like to defend the post based on the fact that at least in my (straight) circles one of the reasons we watch UFC is to look at dudes. Straight men enjoying the looks of other men and not being shy about it is perhaps worthy of discussion. We usually all root for the best looking guy.

This is probably the place to mention "Fruity" Rudy Reyes from Generation Kill, since I've just read the book.

That's comfortable.

Yeah, this is similar to posting a 'Women's guide to hottest Playboy' models, to me. Not at all good.

Lost me at "MMA."

Yeah, because no dude would ever be caught dead lookin' at another dude unless he was insecure about his masculinity.

Why not?

This has been far less educational than I thought it would be.

FPP links are supposed to have intrinsic value. They're not just supposed to be springboards for something you'd like to see discussed, though.

I don't mind the idea that MMA fighters are sexy. They're pretty cool guys that fight without shirts and doesn't afraid of anything. But this is pretty shallow stuff about bulges and LOL-"rear-naked-choke"-sounds-gay talk. In a way, it's not that different from the rantings of the likes of Bob Arum and Bernard Hopkins.

This is pretty much the same as a post linking a Maxim "hetero chick says which female tennis players are the hottest!" list and subsequent discussion about how hott the chicks in the list are! And how it's hot to see a hetero chick say what other chicks are hot!

There's a lot more to these people and plenty of reasons to respect them. I wish that came first, then maybe later, once MMA is understood, the objectification can come along.

Congratulations, Ignignokt, for enacting the Godwin’s Law of any discussion of physical attractiveness.

Yes, because nobody in their right mind would ever physically objectify anybody or post anything on mefi that came close to being shallow.
