I see no evidence that this had anything to do with Okefenokee Swamp and am extremely disappointed.

I am so not normally into this kind of music yet I find everything Pogo does to be stupidly charming.

Never heard of pogo. I like this. That said, I was disappointed it had nothing to do with the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. YOOPERS!

ack! I loved it so much I went to click everything in the previously and they're "private videos" now. Drats!

Actually, I'm not really disappointed. A song about yoopers is... well... let's call it "provincial".

(specifically the Mary Poppins and Alice, they must have been great)

Does it have lyrics? The vocal samples go too fast and distorted for me to make sense of it so I'm curious.
Other than that, I love it.

Man, when did the rest of his videos go private?!

I think he might be doing something with Disney, judging by what videos are there and what aren't plus the 'branding' in the new video.

I'm really surprised at how long these things have stayed up on youtube considering how draconian disney is about anybody sampling or remixing their movies. So my best guess is he's cut come kind of a deal.

Still, this is fucking rad. If it wasn't christmas I'd go eat some drugs and watch this again

dabitch: Pogo's music can be streamed at Last.fm.

I'm struggling to describe what I love so much about Pogo's music. I think the best way to say it is that by using children's movies for the base of his music, he lets me use those films' narratives as I listen, and is free to create his own surreal beats without forcing any arbitrary stories on them. So in Scrumdiddlyumptious, I can think back to the magic of Gene Wilder and Anthony Newley, or I can just listen to it as I would any other song of the genre.

That's the best kind of remixing, for my money: The sort that not only samples something else, but somehow makes the original better by using it in unexpected ways that somehow fit.

the hovering on the edge of incomprehensible vocal tracks are completely hypnotic, to me at least.

also that Disney cut a deal with someone's who's youtube name is "Fagottron"

I don't know about the rest of the vids that have been made private but I found Alice on ... is this a Russian site?

Pixar posted this on their Facebook page today along with this message: "In honor of the holidays, we present our fans with an official remix of Up, courtesy of the whimsical DJ, Pogo!"

So yeah... it's officially sanctioned.

It's obvious that as part of the deal, Disney stepped in and had him remove the Disney remixes. Remixes of Mary Poppins and Alice are gone, while other studios' work remain available and remixed.

I hope everyone has appropriate tools on the side when they're seeing anything like this - my policy is "I liked it, keeping a copy" instead of "well, it'll always be there".

I hope he was paid for his remix work, and he makes more things - he obviously has the talent.

jscott, you made me look and I just realized I have all of his work saved on an external drive.

Anyone have a good non-Youtube site for these?

vimeo will sometimes sustain things that YouTube won't allow.... for now.

Merry Christmas.

I'll look into Vimeo if this doesn't stay up.

Flatluigi, thank you!!!! I love Pogo's videos so much - especially Expialidocious and Alice. To think that those two might have disappeared.... Another Pogo-related Christmas present.

Thanks ever so much flatluigi, me and all my stoned friends will have you in our hearts tonight while we watch these.

Vimeo just removed something I uploaded a year ago because the song matched a copyrighted song (and it was, in fact, that copyrighted song). So that's happening there too.

Late to the party. Dang. That's beautiful. Hope this gets added to Pogo's last.fm set.
