This post was deleted for the following reason: If this is supposed to be a "cool new thing" post, you framed it pretty poorly; if it's supposed to be an actual warning, it doesn't really make sense. -- cortex

I clicked on the link, but only found opt-in software that adds additional geolocation features to Windows 7, and doesn't seem to have any connection to either Big Brother or our Google overlords. Am I missing something?

This is big brother?

What about your cell phone that tracks and reports your current location and what you are saying to your friends and family?

Big Brother? Really? Did you actually read the linked page? For that matter, did you read 1984? Here's a hint - in 1984, the telescreens couldn't be turned off, and with this software, you have to (voluntarily) download and install it. For that matter, there really isn't anything that can USE this library yet.

"We are neither hippies or rich but we want to help kickstart a pool of cool location-based or location-enhanced applications on Windows 7."

I'm doubtful, I suspect they're both rich and not hippies.

The freedom technological infrastructure allows necessarily yields a pernicious form of mental slavery...Big brother is in your brain..

Isn't affiliated with Google, installation is completely voluntary, does exactly what it tells you it does. I don't see the problem here.

The future is an opt-in fuzzy sock patting someone on the shoulder forever.

I quite like "Your privacy is important to us, but to be frank, there's very little in our control" as privacy boilerplates go...
