3DS

With sales of the DS at roughly 100 million, Nintendo have announced its successor.

Or, at least, they've announced one feature of it and not much else. So, are we talking 3D as in Virtual Boy or 3D as in Rittai Kakushi E Attakoreda?

This post was deleted for the following reason: Pretty thin post and adding more links doesn't change that much. Speculation-filter with a dose of Nintendo-blue -- vacapinta

People said two screens would never work. People said an underpowered box with a silly name and motion controls would never work. Still, I say this will never work.

Flagged as one feature and not much else.

I genuinely don't think it'll be a successor to the DS; it's another redesign. Like the DS Lite. And the DSi. And the DSXL.

It's such a winning formula that to deviate from it heavily would be risky. Not that they can't afford the risk, but considering the underwhelmingly conservative redesigns post-Lite I'll be surprised if it's anything more than a hardware accelerated version of the demo in the last link.

How will 3D work without glasses?

In other news, I'm incredibly tired of the whole 3D fad already.

What the hell is with the recent obsession with 3D gaming? Did Lawnmower Man finally come up in everybody's Netflix queues?

I'm glad they are making it compatible with DS games. Backwards compatibility is really a selling point to me - it means my half-trashed DS doesn't need to be repeatedly resuscitated.

So, a one-feature Nintendo blue post.

Great.
