I love puns and jokes, especially about tragedy.
But, reading his words about how grateful he was for all the help of everyone left me feeling awful and sad for him. He must have been terrified.

Not so sure I believe her last words really were "Look how beautiful it is"
I don't know, apparently they were hiking in a spot that she loved because it was beautiful and she wanted to show it to him. It seems like a natural thing for her to say.
This story has a lot more details than the one I read a few days ago. So heartbreaking. You never know when your life is going to turn into a horror movie.

He put the ring on her finger an hour after she had been killed...this is sad and all, but that's kind of creepy.

Eek. I actually went to the exact same spot a little over a year and a half ago. And it was raining.
For what's it worth, Max Patch is an absolutely gorgeous place; it's a flat area, almost like a little prairie, with a 360 degree view of the tops of the Great Smokies. The photos online don't do it justice.
It's very sad that she died, but at least she died in moment of supreme happiness, the kind of moment where you think "I might as well die now, it's not going to get any better than this." Of course, we don't mean those kind of things when we think them, but I still think it's a better death than most of us will get.

It should be illegal for unfortunate events to befall people who are just about to ... I don't know, get engaged, etc?
When I was a teenager, a family friend stayed up late watching the 1998 World Cup. Goes back upstairs to his bedroom and finds his wife (eight months pregnant) dead from heart failure.

Obviously, this was a profound tragedy for her fiancee and her friends and family. Terrible thing, no doubt about it.
Hopefully this song will never come on the radio while her fiancee is driving down the highway...
And I have to wonder, what with lightning striking and waves sweeping brides-to-be out to sea, might we be seeing a move on Mother Nature's part to discourage the institution of marriage? I'd say it's entirely possible...
