Toy Story 3, which comes out today, has got a metrosexual Ken doll, an involved escape scene, a wannabe Commedia Dell'Arte performer, and, 111 critics in, a perfect 100% rating on RottenTomatoes, making it the site's third best-reviewed movie of all time. (It's got a 90% on MetaCritic, which isn't perfect but still places it on the site's Top 100.)

Oh, and to be quite honest it feels like the 3-D parts are quietly shoved in, and can be quietly pulled back out. Nothing feels like an egregrious "OOH LOOK THAT SPOON", which I think is a plus.

I saw the cliffhanger edition back in April. I loved it, but apparently the part we didn't see makes audiences cry. So I'm going back to see it with the ending included.

If even a single person gives this a negative review, it'll drop out of the top 100. The only reason it's so high is because (like over a hundred other movies) all reviews are ranked as positive, and because it has had over a hundred reviews (Movie #4 has 82 positive reviews)

Woody holds a meeting, where the assembled toy family discusses possible outcomes for their new position in the world. Change a few words and it is the same exact scene at the train station from Roman Polanski's award winning Holocaust drama The Piano.

The RT Tomato rating system is an incredibly crude standard for judging a film's merits.

The big problem with RT ratings is they're entirely based on whether or not the given movie has been given a thumbs UP or DOWN (ie: worth seeing or not), as opposed to the enthusiasm of those UPs. So an intense, provocative, brilliant, challenging film like BLUE VELVET (which let's face it, some people were always going to HATE) isn't going to have a chance in hell of stacking up against a merely good (very good?) bit of non-threatening, easygoing, family friendly fluff.

Metacritic has a more refined rating averaging scheme than rotten tomatoes. They give Toy Story 3 a 90/100, which puts it about 50th on their all-time best list.
