Witty ticcy...Tim?

Hampton Sides' June 7 New Yorker piece (regrettably already paywalled), ostensibly about U.S.A. goalkeeper Tim Howard, is really about the history of the USA - England World Cup rivalry (such as it is - two games, 60 years apart).

The piece includes numerous references to specific games, or specific plays in specific games. To enhance my reading of the story, I tried to find as many as I could on YouTube (referenced below, by page). Maybe you can find some that I couldn't, or some better ones.

Joe Gaetjens 1950 WC goal to beat England

p56
"Howard, the father of two children and a devout Christian, is not particularly known for his temper..."

(Disclaimer - this is not Tim Howard talking about his Tourettes, it's a young girl with Tourettes who has a teen outreach website about it, talking about getting to meet Howard after a game. He is seen after about 3:13, but not much heard)

This post was deleted for the following reason: Yeah, if you want to rework this tomorrow to not hang it off the paywall link that'd be fine; as is this kind of stumbles at the lede. -- cortex

I don't mean to poo-poo on something you clearly put a lot of work into, but having your main link behind a paywall that isn't trivial to get around isn't the best post.

good point. I guess I thought there might be a bugmenot, or the paywall wasn't universal/full time - seems like a lot of NY'er content is available in full, regardless of when published.

Mods, I guess kill this. Sorry.

A Goal, A Ghost. "Joe Gaetjens, a Haitian immigrant, scored the greatest goal in American soccer history. He should have been a hero. Instead, Gaetjens was abducted and died in a Haitian prison. "Outside the Lines" sheds light on his story."

Mods, I guess kill this. Sorry.

But then maybe repost it with a little more context supplied for all your Youtube links, which definitely tell a story.
