A Brief History Of Sex Toys

This post was deleted for the following reason: More history and less SEO, maybe. This is just way too flatout linkbait spambloggy as is. -- cortex

Every underlined topic in the article leads to a click-through tracker and then a shopping cart of some sort.

There was a typo in the FPP. He meant "SEO" not "SEX".

Yeah, and it ends with a link to a company whose products the blogger reviews. Pretty thin stuff.

Yeah, pretty spammy... although I have to admit, I didn't realize prior to reading this that it took over 150 years (YEARS!) for people (by which I mean "male doctors") to admit that women were capable of enjoying sex rather than having some sort of neurological disease. God damn Victorians ruined a lot of shit for a lot of people, didn't they?

So they realized it circa 9850 BCE?

Maybe the real question is: Who stopped realizing it, when and why?

It claims to be a history of male and female sex toys, but I see only one reference (at the very end) for something that could be actually labeled a "male" sex toy.

Why is it that women are encouraged to purchase and own sex toys - often even going to parties where sex toys are discussed and purchased - and it is seen as liberating and sexy - but when a man purchases an artificial vagina or a fleshlight he must do so under the cover of anonymity or he risks be labeled a loser, a weird loner, or otherwise undesirable?

Around 500 A.D.

Invention of Ben Wa balls. Originally they were a single ball used to increase men’s pleasure during intercourse. Some were solid, others hollow with clappers that made a ringing sound as they rolled around in the vagina.
I never really got that; who would, in the middle of having sex, look down mournfully and think "this would be so much better if only it were ringing"?
