I like how there's no real distinction between last name, crime, and identifying details. I like to pretend that some of the people just have the last name "Battery", or were arrested for being on American Idol.

The subtext here is the criminals look like criminals. If you dress well, have healthy skin and a normal haircut you are not a danger to the community. This is why stealing a car puts you away for 5-10, while stealing millions in banking assets gets you promoted.
