  • motty's band Fit and the Conniptions has a new album out, available on Bandcamp and CDBaby.
  • Three Day Monk/Rory Viner's "Lost & Found" (itunes) is work in two parts. Experimental & cinematic piano leads into the second half where feelings of wonder and acceptance find way in a cold soundscape.
  • Madamina is a member of the Isthmus Vocal Ensemble, a professional-grade choral group existing for an elusive two weeks each summer. (Audio samples available here; try the Gretchaninoff from 2007!) In 2010, they recorded An Isthmus Christmas, spanning five centuries of choral music from Billings and Mouton to Rachmaninoff and Lauridsen.   • chimaera: My band Phantom West just put out an album on 11/22 and it's available from Amazon, iTunes, CD Baby, and our Bandcamp site (this is the $5.99 best price).
  • mintcake!'s band Nova Social has a new album, For Any Inconvenience, coming out on 12/13 which will be available at Amazon and iTunes among other digital places. Other goodies, including a recent six-song vinyl EP, are available at their site.

  • bitter-girl runs Cooperative Press, an indie publishing company specializing in creative topics, from knitting to crafty business. We're expanding into art- and food-related titles in 2012. What's special about CP is that we are ultra-digital friendly and we pay our authors royalties that are 4-5x the average paid by traditional publishers.

  • scaryblackdeath has self-published an urban fantasy novel called "Good Intentions." It's an irreverent, smutty adventure set in Seattle, available on Amazon and on Smashwords, for many non-Kindle formats.
  • ManinSuit: Sheila Heti had the idea to collaborate with me on a book of everything I know. That book,  The Chairs Are Where The People Go, came out this summer. It is about improvisation, municipal politics, information on how to teach a charades class, running conferences, feeling like a fraud, love, quitting smoking, and other things.   • itesser writes cute little storytelling games about robots and gingerbread cookies. Her games are available in both print and pdf forms. Get them on lulu. For the rest of 2011, proceeds from sales go to a San Bernardino, CA charity that teaches free theater and dance classes.
  • Scoop has a digital publishing company called Byliner and writes "We publish ebooks designed to be read in a single sitting. These can be purchased and read on the Kindle, Nook, iPad, or online.   • sideofwry runs an ebookstore called Emily Books, which specializes in mindblowingly-awesome, criminally-underappreciated works of fiction and nonfiction by women. The store, which exclusively sells ebooks, offers titles by subscription (1 new book every month for a year) or as stand-alone single purchases. Emily Books will soon be releasing a literary magazine (ETA: December 20th), which MetaFilter customers can receive for free by forwarding confirmation of an Emily Books purchase.
