What to do about small painful lump near finger joint?

I've got a small painful lump at the base of my finger. The doctor says it's a nodule and recommends no treatment for now, but it's bothering me. Why have I got this, is there anything else it could be, and is there anything I can do about it?

Where can I find this old Flash animation with hopping bunnies and the head of Margaret Thatcher?

Does anyone remember and know where I can find an old Flash animation that I saw on the internet years ago, which featured hopping bunnies, the floating head of Margaret Thatcher, and a jaunty song containing the word 'ja!'?

Greenvoice I recently finished a complete redesign of the environmental campaigning site Greenvoice. It's a free site that helps people establish a web presence for their campaign, and encourages them to use wikis, blogs and discussion forums to involve the community. It also provides free campaigning tools like petitions, pledges, and event organisation.

iTunes added my new music tracks as podcast episodes, but doesn't show them under Podcasts -- how can I delete them?

I added some new music tracks to iTunes, and for some reason it thought they were podcast episodes. So it doesn't show them under 'Music'. But it's not showing them in the 'Podcasts' library either. I've deleted the music files from the Finder, but how can I clear out the tracks from my iTunes library?

How do you justify spending half a million pounds on a logo?

Help me understand the marketing/branding industry. The 2012 London Olympics committee just spent £400,000 on this new logo. How does a branding company justify this kind of money to just design a logo? That can't be all there is to it, right? What kind of things actually get delivered and done on a project like this?

In a journaling file system, why are journal writes more reliable than file system writes?

In a journaling file system like ext3, a journal entry is written before each file system change, describing the change about to be carried out. This allows quick recovery if the actual file change is interrupted or not carried out due to power outage or whatever. But why is the act of writing the journal entry not susceptible to the exact same threat of being interrupted?

Ashbourne Royal Shrovetide Football

Royal Shrovetide Football is a traditional ball game played each year in Ashbourne, Derbyshire on a 'pitch' three miles long, lasting the two days of Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday. It's been going since at least 1683 and likely much earlier.

After a ceremonial rendition of Auld Lang Syne and God Save The Queen, the cork-filled ball is thrown from the starting plinth into the crowd, and then it's the Up'ards versus the Down'ards, forming giant scrums (or 'hugs') of people moving up and down the River Henmore, with the aim of 'goaling the ball' at their respective goal post.

Where/when can an amateur classical pianist perform?

I'm an amateur classical pianist. I used to give solo recitals at college, and I would like to start performing again out here in the real world. But what sort of group/organisation/event do I need to get involved with to have this kind of opportunity? Could I organise a little independent recital for myself, or is that weird and too egotistical?
