HUGO: MAN OF A THOUSAND FACES

This memory was added on: May 3, 2009
gotta love him!..I found him in the attic recently and was reminded of the times my friends and I would take him out with us to concerts, culbs and parties in the late 70's early 80's...he does not have his disguises .. just his beautiful bald head and blue eyes...I was tempted to sell him..but i know he would haunt me in my dreams...he's here right next to me now giving me the unhairy eyeball just talking about it...I hear Hugo...and I obey....

Like you've never been away

Photographer Paul Trevor has documented many aspects of British life during the course of his career. In 1975, he went to Liverpool as part of the 'Survival Programmes' project, that looked at inner city deprivation. He is putting on an exhibition of these photos as part of Liverpool's 2011 International Photography festival. 'The pictures were made in the city in 1975. I am very keen to find the people who I photographed then, with a view to possibly photographing them again.'

"The Led Zeppelin show depends heavily on volume, repetition and drums. It bears some resemblance to the trance music found in Morocco"

I told Jimmy he was lucky too have that house with a monster in the front yard. What about the Loch Ness monster? Jimmy Page thinks it exists. I wondered if it could find enough to eat, and thought this unlikely–it’s not the improbability but the upkeep on monsters that worries me. Did Aleister Crowley have opinions on the subject? He apparently had not expressed himself. - William Burroughs attends a Led Zeppelin concert and has a chat with Jimmy Page (via Bruce Sterling)

Articles from 1956, 1966, 1969, 1975, and 1979 inside. [more inside]

Race With The Devil

Race With The Devil "This novel fusion of car-chase film and spooky horror became a surprise box-office hit in 1975. The story begins with car enthusiasts Frank (Warren Oates) and Roger (Peter Fonda) taking their wives, Kelly (Lara Parker) and Alice (Loretta Swit), on a vacation in a recreational vehicle. Their camping trip goes horribly awry when Frank and Roger accidentally stumble upon a group of hooded Satanists committing a human sacrifice. The cultists give chase..." 1::2::3::4::5::6::7::8::9
