KAPOW! CRASH! OOOOFF!

We are certainly in an age of DVD saturation for TV shows. The few titles that have taken their time have been usually due to copyright complications (such as "Daria" and "WKRP", both of which had to replace their soundtracks in order to get released). Now comes news that one of the last great home video holdouts is finally being set free: The 1960's "Batman" starring Adam West will be released on DVD later this year.

Revisioning Red Riding Hood

Animation veteran Steve Moore recently posted a short from the archives of Disney TV Animation, written by Dan O’Shannon, narrated by Garrison Keillor, and voiced by Mia Farrow, Michael Richards, June Foray, and Adam West, all set to a jazz soundtrack. Take 15 minutes and watch Redux Riding Hood. Steve tells the story of the short on his blog. (Via Cartoon Brew)

Adam West had the right to remain silent ... a pity he didn't exercise that right

I'm so sorry, Metafilter, really I am. I don't know what's come over me, but I am posting one of the dopiest, most embarrassing celebrity novelty tunes ever recorded. It's by the fellow who played Batman in the 60s TV series, Adam West, in a breathtakingly stupid recording of an utterly ridiculous song called Miranda. I pray that you'll forgive me for my indiscretion, and I promise I will post some inspiring and worthwhile music next time around.

Hi there, the sidewalk is my pillow.

In the early 1990s, Adam West starred in two short-lived television series: Lookwell and The Clinic. Lookwell, created by Conan O'Brien and Robert Smigel, centered around West's character, Ty Lockwell, a washed up actor whose previous gig as a TV detective led him to believe that he was capable of solving crimes. Owner of an honorary detective badge, Lookwell ropes his acting students into playing various characters as he tracks down leads. Only the pilot episode ever aired. The other show, The Clinic, was a short-lived soap opera spoof that aired briefly (five episodes) on Comedy Central. It featured West as the overly dramatic Dr. Horton Van Hoon, an alcoholic in charge of a failing health clinic. The Clinic also featured radio cult personality Joe Frank in one of his very few acting roles.

Screen Tests. Good, now 3/4 to the right. Full profile. Thank you.

The screen test offers a disorienting angle on 'behind the scenes' footage—straight through the camera. [more inside]

BRUCE WAYNE masters SCIENCE and ATHLETICS.

Andre Perkowski has remixed various classic silent films, including The Bat and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari to create a silent 1920's version of Batman: Origin Story, Rogues' Gallery.

Also: Adam West in The Dark Knight Returns.

"Don't dip your oar in this sordid sea, Dick. You might be besmirched."

"Don't dip your oar in this sordid sea, Dick. You might be besmirched." I've loved this campy show and movie ever since they first appeared, and the never missed opportunities to try to teach/preach through goody-two-shoe'dness such as lecturing Robin, talking tough with criminals, and dealing with women range from the classic: [more]

POW!

POW!
I found this while looking for something to illustrate the wrong way to pronounce Derek's name. I can't decide if Adam West is lampooning himself (in current Shatner style), or if he is still hanging onto his Glory Days with Julie Newmar... but I'm not sure it matters.
