The city of Sao Paulo
passed an ordinance last year banning outdoor advertising; photographer Tony de Marco has been
documenting the skeletal remains of the advertising infrastructure throughout the city; the impact looks like the aftermath of a new type of atomic weapon that targets marketing but leaves buildings & people unscathed.

Animation collective Three Legged Legs' (
previously) newest piece,
Samurai (embedded quicktime
here, High Def direct download
here) is a really beautiful looking short cartoon in Japanese.
Warning to those fearing advertising, the piece was sponsored by GE, although it shows no branding or GE messaging of any kind.) Via.

British Adidas commercial (warning QT direct link) featuring soccer players on a field made only of the chalk outlines, floating in a void. I'm guessing this won't get shown in the U.S. due to the relative low profile soccer has here, but it's a great spot. More on the "making of"
here.

The latest Honda television commercial, "
Sense" being shown in the UK, is the follow up to the
widely discussed "Cog." It's quite not as cool as its predecessor, but still, an elegant, interesting concept. Apologies for the somewhat low quality of the java video stream.

By now, you might already have heard about
Mark Walker, the 3 year old hoops prodigy that Reebok is featuring on their website; while the
video of him hitting 18 straight shots from various spots on the floor is cute/impressive, the "
interview" movie is horrendously creepy. The closing tagline "I'm the future of basketball; I am Reebok" done in the voice of such a small child just conjures up visions of in vitro logo tattooing. (Warning: Movies are in Quicktime)
