Start drawing! The Asia drawing portal. Drawings from Asia, drawing by Asians. It's hot out, so crack open a cold drink, keep yourself inside and click through a great portal of art from the near and far east. Stay a while, and browse by category, by country, and revel in a large list of inspirations and resources. I've enjoyed reading about Sanjay Patel, the artist behind GheeHappy and Hindu mythology in cartoon form, an amazing array of CG artists from Thailand, the odd dichotomy of urban culture and ultra-slick anime from Korea, and puzzled over an array of meticulous resources like this Hair gallery (Japanese site).

An interesting set of videos demonstrating the state of liquid and particle systems simulation for use in movies, games, etc. It's the work of Ron Fedkiw, a computational physicist and consultant for ILM^ , who worked with his students to create all sorts of other interesting CG creations.

From extra sheep and mountains in Brokeback Mountain, to flipping around shops and removing a leg in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Buzz Image provides an extensive portfolio of their CG and FX work. And plenty of beavers.

(NSFW-but not porn) Never GIS "little mermaid," large size images, and click the second image from the left out of curiosity. If you do, don't look at the other galleries at the site, hypnotized and horrified. Furthermore, follow any of the links at your own peril. If you manage to make it to the Renderosity pages, you are expressly forbidden from looking at every single page of art by these three artists. Under no circumstances look at these unabashed masterpieces: "Damnedly Wanted," "Nooo, you ARE hansome," "9/11 Remembrance," "Cure for cancer," and god knows how many more. If you follow these instructions carefully, you will have successfully avoided the fairy(faerie, fae), poser, chibi, furry, and koshini scenes for the day.

There's a new 3D picture every day, and if you look at the archive all at once, it's like reading a slightly unnerving children's book.

Oh, yeah. Reboot!, truly one of the geek shows of all time, is returning Fall 2001. Two made-for-television moives have been in production forever. But, now this: not movies, but a freaking full 13 episode season! With talk of another 13 after that! And a season-ending musical number! Fall 2001 can't come soon enough. Reboot! is a Canadian production; anyone know about US release dates and network? (more inside)
